As the year of 2024 come to an end, both Trip.com and TrainPal are looking to wrap the year. It help strengthen user connection by celebrating personal milestones, reinforcing platform value, and encouraging continued engagement through emotional storytelling and shareability.

Scope & Deliverables

Led UI design for Trip.com & TrainPal’s 2024 Year-in-Review, using emotional storytelling to boost UGC and app conversion. Worked on story narratives, visual system, banners, and cross-team alignment with motion designers, PMs, content writers, and developers.

After launching design, we achieved:
3M+ active users across Trip.com & TrainPal
5% booking during 14-day campaign window

After launching design, we achieved:
23.6% increase in H5-to-app conversions
3.1% boost in new user ticket conversions in 7 days for repeated bookings.

Background

Background

PM outlined a content-driven storytelling experience centered around three key narratives based on company highlights:

  • Annual Summary: Total trips, destinations, and modes of transport

  • Green Travel Impact: CO₂ reduction and sustainability actions

  • User Titles & Badges: Custom travel identities based on behavior patterns (e.g., "Train Expert", "Global Nomad")

From data given by PM in growth, we discovered in spring 2024, there's a 15% decrease in app conversion across all global locales.

Understanding the Year in Review Experience

Conducted rounds of competitive audit & benchmarking of major “Wrapped”-style products across platforms including Spotify, Duolingo, Reddit, and YouTube Music.

Entry is limited to the homepage promo banner, aligned with PM and dev. We coordinated with marketing to drive user awareness.

From low-fidelity to hi-fidelity, worked with motion illustration artist to develop cohesive brand and style that feels lightweight and friendly to brand.

Refined the share experience with brand-friendly visuals, travel-based characters, and clear data grouping to encourage user engagement and social sharing.
